Wood is for more than carving,,,

Have you considered trying your hand at "wood pile art"?
Weird Wood has collected photos of a couple dozen examples of wood pile art (click here) ranging from simple shapes to impressive art.  Some might be called megalithic.

With some planning and the right venue, this could become a club project to create a public art spectacle.  :)

June 12, 13 & 14, 2015

THURSDAY June 11, 2015
Setup, registration, camp site selection, miscellaneous carving projects, introductions and renewing old acquaintances. Dave Disselbrett will have some small projects to carve Thursday afternoon..

FRIDAY June 12, 2015
A hospitality table will be available throughout the day. We depend on donations of food and drinks to keep the table open.

8:30 am – 9:00 am Class sign up.
9:00 am – 12:00 pm Classes

12:00 pm – 1:00 pm Lunch – hot dogs and chips will be available – donations accepted.
Wood turning demonstrations will be going on Friday and Saturday afternoons. Jim Swift of Mid‐Columbia Wood Turners will be turning objects that carving can be incorporated in the final piece.

Please bring a dish for the potluck. Bingo after the potluck. There will be regular bingo, continue on with four corners, X the card and ending with blackout. There will be a prize for each, ending with a gift certificate for the card blackout.

SATURDAY June 13, 2015
A silent auction will be conducted all day and will close at the same time as the raffle closes, right after the meal. There will be a pair of carvings by Will and Kay Hayden, an excellent sunfish carving (by Andy Anderson) and a dragon carving out of mahogany (by Earl Smith). Winners will be announced during the raffle.

The raffle will be held following the meal. A final drawing from all of the raffle tickets will be held with the winning ticket receiving a $50 gift certificate from Cascade Carvers. Must be present to win.

8:30‐10:00 am – Carving contest (on the spot‐details at 8:30) judging and awards ($20 gift certificate).
10:30 – Building clean‐up.
